A magical time...

The Celts refer to the last six nights of the old year and the first six of the new year as rough nights. They start on December 25th and always last from night to night, i.e. from 00:00 to midnight.

During this time, the spirit realm is open and the souls of the deceased as well as the wild winter spirits have an exit. The Wild Hunt goes back to the father of the gods Odin. He moves through the air with his ghost train with loud clatters, howls and groans. Ms. Holle is often part of the hunting party.

Rauhnächte und zeremonieller Kakao

Weißt du, für mich ist die Zeit zwischen den Jahren eine ganz besondere. Eine Zeit, in der altes losgelassen und ad acta gelegt werden kann. Und eine Zeit, in der erste Samen für Neues gesät werden dürfen. Eine Zeit der Innenkehr, Ruhe und Tiefe.

Auch wenn die Entscheidung naheliegend schien, so brauchte es meine eigene Reifung, um auch für diese Zeit Kakao in besonderer Zusammensetzung präsentieren zu können.

Even though the decision seemed obvious, it took my own maturation to be able to present cocoa in a special composition for this time.

Geschichte der Rauhnächte

Die Kelten bezeichnen die sechs letzten Nächte des alten und die sechs ersten des neuen Jahres als Rauhnächte. Sie beginnen demnach am 25. Dezember und sie dauern immer von Nacht zu Nacht, also von 00:00 bis 24:00.

In dieser Zeit steht das Geisterreich offen und die Seelen der Verstorbenen sowie die wilden Wintergeister haben Ausgang. Die Wilde Jagd geht auf den Göttervater Odin zurück. Er zieht mit seinem Geisterzug unter lautem Gerasse, Heulen und Stöhnen durch die Luft. Oft ist auch Frau Holle Teil der Jagdgesellschaft.
