Winter has a firm grip on our region, and I am happy to be tucked away, warm and provided with cacao, within my 4 walls.
And grateful, because I know that not everyone has this privilege.
But why am I actually writing to you? How could it be otherwise - there is something to celebrate!!!
Because we are film-worthy.
After over a year of hard work, our documentary film about Chuncho Cacao is finally seeing the light of day this week.
A documentary film?!
You heard right, dear sipper, a real-deal documentary about the oldest cacao on Earth, and how it becomes the legendary ceremonial cacao we all love with the help of farmers, cooperatives, and Kakao Mischa.
During my visit on-site in Quillabamba, Peru, I had a cameraman with me and we captured the special story of our Chuncho cacao.
The film includes:
- Origin, cultivation & harvest of the Chuncho cacao
- its processing (fermentation & drying)
- the local cacao culture
- Mischa, as I swing from vine to vine through the cacao forest, scantily clad
The latter leaves something to be desired, but I am still amazed and touched by the unique qualities of our Chuncho Cacao.
