We have received wonderful news from Peru: our partners at Original Beans visited the Awajun on-site to see the progress of our reforestation project for themselves.
100% of the planned trees have already been planted, and about 70% of them have already been successfully grafted. - Jan Schubert, Original Beans
But that's not all: the local cooperative has managed to cultivate 5,000 additional seedlings on their own. It warms our hearts to write this.
This shows how much the local people support the project and how high their motivation is to create new cacao forests across a total of 25 hectares together.

Kakao Mischa sources Awajun cacao exclusively, and the entire team visited the site this year and was welcomed with love.
Why is this so important?
By grafting the seedlings—a process where particularly high-yielding and resilient cacao varieties are grafted onto the young trees—the quality and yield of the cacao increase. For 49 families in the region, this means a better income and more long-term security.

How does the Kakao Mischa Impact Fund work?
With every cup of cacao you enjoy, you support these projects: For every kilogram of cacao mass traded by us, we put €1 into the Impact Fund. Since July 2024, this has been providing direct funding to projects like the one in Awajun. Together with our partner Original Beans, we ensure that the path of cacao is not only preserved but continues to flourish. Learn more
Your enjoyment makes the difference!
With every sip of cacao, you are part of this cycle of giving and receiving. You help cacao culture to continue growing and thriving—for the local people, for nature, and for the taste in your cup.

A very special thank you to Yelka and Jan from Original Beans for their dedication, commitment, and ongoing support. Thank you for making this positive impact possible together!
