Our Christmas campaign with Original Beans in Peru

Christmas is a time of sharing, gratitude, and connection. For us at Kakao Mischa, it is also a moment to pause and ask ourselves: How can we give something back to those people without whom our cacao would not even exist?

In December, we once again carried out a special Christmas campaign together with Original Beans:

150 kg of cacao mass were gifted directly on-site to 300 cacao farming families in Peru. A gift that goes beyond the material and serves as a gesture of appreciation.

Growing cacao – without ever tasting it

What is barely imaginable for many is a sad reality in many cacao-growing regions:

People who spend their entire lives working with cacao trees have never consumed cacao themselves. They know the fruits, the harvest, the hard physical labor, but not the enjoyment, not the effect of this special plant.

Generations grow up in a system where they work for a product that is considered a luxury worldwide, while they themselves receive barely more than the absolute subsistence minimum. This is exactly what we do not want to accept.

Cacao as a master plant that deserves appreciation

For us, cacao is much more than a raw material. It is a master medicinal plant that has stood for connection, heart-opening, and community for thousands of years. This power can only truly take effect if we honor all people along the entire value chain: from seed to cup.

That is why at Kakao Mischa, we consciously speak of a value-appreciation chain instead of just a supply chain. It begins with the soil, the trees, and the hands that tend them, and it does not end with consumption, but with responsibility, fairness, and genuine encounter at eye level.

The images from our Peru trip in March 2025 with the entire team show exactly that: smiling faces, shared experiences, pride, and gratitude on both sides. Moments that remind us once again why we are on this path.
